10 years ago, Kroger promised to discontinue the sale of eggs that have come from caged hens, yet they continue to sell these eggs today. Factory farming is a topic that I could truly go on and on about. It is a practice of which I have been voicing my concerns for many, many years. Sometimes it feels like a losing battle but I know that it isn’t, because of the work that organizations like Humane World for Animals, the ASPCA, and so many others are doing to make a difference. You can make a difference too, by being mindful of the companies that you choose to financially support. You also have a voice. Writing a message to the CEO of Kroger is a power that you and I have to encourage real change. Because The Gentle Earth Journal is a place for gentle, uplifting, and positive encouragement, I intend to share very little graphic detail on any of my posts. However, I strongly encourage you to do your own research on factory farming and the practices of the companies that you are actively financially supporting. Egg factory farms are cruel, but the solution is simple. Stop supporting them financially and they will be forced to adapt to more humane practices. Kroger made the promise to stop supporting these types of companies and yet, a decade later, they are still profiting from the sale of caged eggs. The CEO needs to hear from frustrated customers like you and me, so that he might decide to do the right thing. If you’d like to share your thoughts with CEO Greg Foran, click the link below.
